Breaking down barriers

The barriers people have toward wheelchairs shouldn’t exist

Joey Desjardins is a para-cycling athlete on Canada’s national team. A wheelchair user ever since a motocross accident ten years ago, he has competed in 10 handbike world cups and three world championships. Joey is also an ambassador for the Rick Hansen Foundation and works to break down the mental barriers people have toward wheelchair users. Finally, Joey is the very proud father of two young girls. Every day, he keeps pushing past his limits.
