A Love Story in Motion: Michael and Trinity’s Viral Proposal

Love has a way of finding its perfect moment, and for Michael Maze and Trinity Brooks, that moment became a viral sensation.

Their engagement story captivated the internet, and it certainly captivated us at Motion Composites. We were in awe to witness such a beautiful display of love, determination and shared dreams.

Michael and Trinity’s journey began long before the proposal. They had known each other since childhood, as their fathers were close friends. Funnily enough, Michael was one of Trinity’s first crushes, but an age gap kept them from truly connecting until adulthood. Years later, fate brought them together again. A simple Instagram message from Michael three years ago led to their first date, and from that moment, they’ve been inseparable.

Their bond only grew stronger through their shared passions. Michael, a former professional motocross rider, adapted his love for the sport after his spinal cord injury. Trinity, whose father also rode, was naturally drawn to his world. Together, they began creating content, capturing breathtaking moments of Michael’s adaptive motocross journey. Their partnership flourished, blending Michael’s skills with Trinity’s eye for photography and video recording.

The Proposal That Touched Millions

Michael knew he wanted to make his proposal special, the only problem was that he was not sure how. As an Uber driver, he often chatted with passengers, and one conversation sparked an idea: propose to Trinity at their favorite local Italian restaurant. As soon as the ride finished, he rushed to the jewelry store where he had already been making payments on the ring for months, waiting for the perfect time.

The night of the proposal, Michael devised a simple but clever plan. He invited her to have dinner out at their favorite Italian restaurant; once there, he asked Trinity to grab a catheter for him from the car—an everyday task in their lives. While she was outside, he quickly asked someone at the restaurant to record the moment.

In Trinity’s words: “I went to the car to get him a catheter, and I realized we did not have any in the car! I immediately got worried and thought to myself that we would need to get back to the house pretty soon for his poor bladder not to explode. Once I got back to our table and explained to him that we did not have any catheters in the car, he just brushed it off and told me that maybe he just needed to stretch.I was initially puzzled as Michael got out of his wheelchair. Then I started to realize what was happening.”

Trinity was completely surprised. At first, she mistook a woman recording for someone making fun of Michael, only to realize it was the opposite—she was documenting their magical moment. As Michael pulled out the ring, Trinity knew this was it. The love and support from the crowd made it even more special, turning an intimate moment into a shared celebration.

For Michael, getting out of his wheelchair for the proposal wasn’t just about tradition—it was about showing Trinity his commitment. “Sitting down in the chair just didn’t feel the same,” he explained. “I knew I could do it, so I might as well.”

The internet quickly took notice. Many praised Michael’s determination and Trinity’s unwavering support. Some highlighted how important it was that she didn’t try to stop him or assist him unnecessarily, recognizing that their relationship is built on trust and respect for each other’s independence.

Being an interabled couple

For Michael and Trinity, their relationship is a partnership based on mutual trust.

Since his accident, Michael has proven to himself and the world that you can live a fulfilling life and find love. Being in a wheelchair does not stop him from living life to the fullest and pursuing his passions.

Michael uses an APEX C wheelchair, so of course, we had to ask him about it. “I really love my APEX wheelchair—it’s so light. My old one was much heavier, and the first time I lifted this one, I almost threw it because I wasn’t expecting it to be so light! It’s a huge change.”

When it comes to Trinity, she never thought of Michael’s disability as a challenge. Trinity has never seen herself as Michael’s caretaker; she’s simply Michael’s partner.

Their dynamic challenges common stereotypes about relationships involving wheelchair users, proving that love is all about partnership.

A wedding under the lights of Vegas

Michael grew up surrounded by weddings. His grandparents owned a wedding venue, and for years, he watched at least three weddings a week, setting up and tearing down. That firsthand experience shaped his understanding of what makes a wedding special.

Now, planning his second wedding, Michael wants something different, something uniquely them.

“We’re traditional to an extent,” Michael shares. “But we’re not drinkers or partiers. We love lights, the vibe of Vegas, and playing a little at the casinos, but a big party isn’t really our thing.”

Vegas makes sense for them. It’s only four hours away, and since their families are spread out across different locations, they’d have to travel regardless. A small chapel wedding feels like the perfect fit! If they can’t find the right reception space, they might skip the formal event altogether and instead celebrate by walking the Strip, grabbing dinner, and just enjoying the experience with their loved ones.

What’s next?

Their engagement marks just the beginning of an exciting journey. With wedding planning already underway, they are ready to take on this next chapter together. They’re even documenting the process, ensuring their followers get a glimpse into the making of their special day.

If you want to follow their journey until the big day, follow them on their social media accounts (Michael's Instagram, Trinity's Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok). Watch firsthand as they plan their wedding and continue to share their adventures together!

We want to thank Michael and Trinity for the time they took to share with us their unique love story! Michael also shared with us some advice for those who are still looking for love:

“Be patient! Don’t rush anything. When it feels right, it’s right. Take it day by day. You have to build yourself first. If you’re not happy alone, you won’t be good for someone else.”
