Today, we want to introduce you to someone who, in our opinion, is one of the coolest artists in France, and the very first Motion Composites Brand Ambassador from the Old Continent: FIVE!
By Miriam Aguilar Garza - Published February 26th, 2026
Fred Guérin, artistically known as FIVE, is a 33-year-old French singer from Normandy. Fred is a former motocross champion who became paraplegic following an accident during a competition in the Netherlands. Since then, Fred has found refuge in music, and writing has become his bread and butter! He released his first album, « Pays-Bas », on April 6, 2022, and also performed on stage, opening for Hoshi at 8 Zenith venues, including Paris!
Fred has been writing music for over 10 years and is now 100% focused on this passion of his. He’s doing live shows (with his first solo Parisian date in 2026!), and participating in lots of music festivals over the summer in Europe. When he’s not in stage, you will find him writing new music, practicing sports or traveling in his APEX Carbon manual wheelchair from Motion Composites.
Of course, after streaming all of his music and watching his eye-catching video clips, we had to meet with him, get to know him, and ask him more about his musical inspirations and his projects for 2026. His responses did not disappoint.
Interview:
Motion Composites: You're a former motocross champion. How did you get into motocross, and what hooked you to the sport?
Fred Guérin: I was just three years old. They tell me that I kept bugging them for a motorbike, and I got my first one at only three years old! I never stopped after that. I kept improving and started racing in regional, national, and then international championships.
MC: You're from Normandy. How did growing up there fuel your passion for motocross and later influence your music career?
FG: Normandy is full of countryside, with lots of open spaces and riding tracks, so that helped a lot. Nature is a big part of it. As for music, Normandy has a very active cultural scene with concerts, festivals, and events. The region supports me—I’m even an ambassador for Normandy, with several projects in the works.
MC: You had your motocross accident in the Netherlands, and that inspired your song « Pays-Bas,» ? What made you turn to music after the accident? Was it always a passion, or did it become an outlet?
FG: A bit of both. I have always listened to music, but I have never written or thought of doing it professionally. My life was focused on sports. But after the accident, I felt the need to write. I started jotting things down, and since I loved music, I began putting my some music to my words. It began with little freestyles—just for me. It wasn’t that good at first, but over time, I thought, "This isn’t bad; maybe I should release it." (laughs).
MC: Which artists inspired you when you started in rap?
FG: I listened to a lot of OrelSan because he’s from Normandy too, and I related to his lyrics. But not just that, I have also always listened to a lot of different types of music; Lots of rock, like “The Offspring”. So, my musical inspirations have always been, are, and will continue to be very varied.
MC: Do you have a specific method for writing your songs? Or is it more based on a what you are feeling?
FG: I used to write based on feeling. Now, I focus on finding melodies first, then choose a theme and write around that. During the day, if I think of words or phrases, I jot them down. Later, when I need to write a song, I pull from those ideas, and that works for me!
MC: Have you faced challenges in the music industry? How did you overcome them?
FG: Of course, it’s tough to carve out a place, like in any field. But I keep on working, and I'm focused on improving my music, image, and social media to reach more people. It’s not easy, but I keep pushing.
MC: What’s the main message you want to convey through your music?
FG: It has evolved overtime. My first album was very personal and a bit selfish, I made it for myself to process my experiences. Now, I’m trying to make music that resonates with more people, I want to create music that can help people overcome challenges or connect with the music through life's ups and downs.
Last year was great, I released a few singles that I am very proud of. The first one, “La Technique”, which people received in a gret way. And my second single, "Carnaval" that talks about disabilities and the looks from other people when you have a disability.
MC: What are your upcoming career plans? Any collaborations or projects to share?
FG: 2026 is going to be a big year for me, I released in January my latest single called "J’aurai peur toute ma vie" (I'll be afraid all my life), which is a very personal piece for me since it talks about the adventure of fatherhood, and by the end of the song you can hear my daughter too.
I’m working on my new album. We will be realeasing another single in May, and another one in September! so get ready for it. The album comes out in October, and I’m also planning my first Parisian show to celebrate the realease of the album together with all my fans!
Of course, I also have some festival dates lined up for next summer! I am so excited about everything that’s coming, and I can’t wait for people to hear it! It is a little bit less rap with a good mix of rock!
MC: Let’s talk a bit about your wheelchair. What can you tell us about your APEX Carbon? How did you first hear about Motion Composites?
FG: It was pretty simple. I was looking for a carbon wheelchair, and my medical supply store told me that he had heard about a “new” brand that had arrived in France - Motion Composites. I immediately loved the design and feel, so I went with it!
MC: What do you like most about it?
FG: The weight is a game-changer, for sure, but I LOVE the design! I have been using this wheelchair for a little over two years now and it is still performing great! I am really happy with my APEX C.
MC: Have you performed outside of France?
FG: Yes, in neighboring countries like Belgium and Switzerland, mostly French-speaking places.
MC: What about Quebec? Have you ever been there? Is there any chance that you will be coming to perform in Quebec anytime soon?
FG: Sadly, I have never been, but I really want to come! I started to have a small fanbase in Quebec who listen to my music. I check Spotify for listens from Quebec and there are some, not many, but a few. So, maybe one day!
MC: Any final thoughts or messages for the blog readers?
FG: When are we doing a concert in Quebec? (laughs) I would just like to remind people to stream my music and, if they can, come see us perform live with my band! It is worth it!
We want to thank Fred Guérin (FIVE) for joining the Motion Composites family as our Brand Ambassador! We can’t wait to stream his album, which will be released later this year, and we hope that he will come to perform in North America soon.
