Now, we've upgraded the Depth Adjustable Back (DAB)* to also meet those same standards, giving parents, clinicians, partners and even funding bodies greater peace of mind, while reinforcing Motion Composites' commitment to adaptable, high-performance pediatric solutions.
Designed to support growing children with mobility needs, the new bracket-based assembly offers increased durability and safety without adding complexity. This upgrade means your HELIO Kids wheelchair meets important standards for safe transportation in a motor vehicle even with the added benefits of a Depth Adjustable Back.

Securing WC19 certification for the Depth Adjustable Back as part of the HELIO Kids wheelchair means you can now choose to have it equipped with this option and still meet important transportation safety standards. It allows a wheelchair and its occupant to be safely anchored in a motor vehicle, even when the Depth Adjustable Back is installed.
Replaces the older welded interface with a more durable and serviceable bracket system. This robust mechanical interface is designed for repeated adjustments and long-term reliability, minimizing the need for repairs as the child grows.
Maintains a functional depth adjustability range of 3 inches (-2in to +1in on the frame length) and angle adjustability of 15 degrees (from 0 to -15) adjustability for optimal postural support, but now with a design that is 5 times more robust.*
Installs seamlessly without any permanent modifications to the wheelchair frame. The Depth Adjustable Back can be retrofitted to any HELIO Kids wheelchair, including one that was already outfitted with a WC19 kit. This enhancement maintains HELIO Kids’ reputation as one of the lightest folding pediatric wheelchairs on the market, offering adjustability without adding weight or complexity.
