Canadian Paralympic handcyclist, proud father, and passionate advocate for accessibility and inclusion.
Based in Hawkesbury, Ontario, Joey’s journey took a powerful turn in 2009 when a dirt bike accident left him with a spinal cord injury. What began as a way to stay active through handcycling soon transformed into a competitive drive that would take him all the way to the Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
Over the years, Joey has proudly represented Canada at international competitions, earning a bronze medal at the 2022 Para-Cycling Road World Championships. He’s known not just for his athletic achievements, but for the way he leads with heart and determination.
Above all, Joey is a devoted dad to two amazing daughters. Everything he does, on and off the bike, is rooted in showing them that disability doesn't limit your dreams. He’s committed to proving that with resilience, passion, and a strong support system, anything is possible.
Whether he's racing, mentoring the next generation of para-athletes, or advocating for a more inclusive world, Joey brings a powerful message: our challenges don’t define us. How we rise to meet them does.
